The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA)
sets forth a complex set of requirements in providing for the
option of continuation of group health coverage for certain employees
and covered dependents. CBSA's COBRA Administration Support Program
can relieve employers of the burden of the notifications and
record keeping required. In addition, CBSA handles the billing,
collection and remittance of premium for COBRA plan participants.

A company's participation in
CBSA's COBRA Administration Support Program provides the following
services:
- Notify all employees and spouses
of COBRA eligibility at the time of plan enrollment
- Notify employees and/or beneficiaries/dependents
of their right to continue under COBRA after a qualifying event
- Generate initial premium billing
to COBRA plan participant
- Track maximum time for receipt
of initial premium
- Collect premium from COBRA plan
participant
- Remit premium amount to employer
- Retain accurate records showing
proof of compliance
- Generate subsequent monthly
premium billings (if full billing service is purchased by employer)
- Generate warnings of potential
termination of coverage under COBRA to "Beneficiary"
who is late in premium payment prior to expiration of grace period
(if full billing service is purchased by employer)
- Generate notice of termination
of continued coverage for non-payment of premium
Note: Notice to all employees,
spouses and/or beneficiaries of their eligibility and/or rights
will be by first class mail to their last known address.
